Lady Maroons Basketball Camp 2012

The Clinton Lady Maroons recently finished their 4th annual summer basketball camp on June 22nd. The week long camp hosted 30 girls that will be going into 4th-8th grade next year. The girls got to compete in full court games and win prizes for competitions involving ball handling, free throw shooting, and hot spot shooting. Prizes were also awarded for the Camper of the Day. Not only does the camp provide prizes, but the girls also got a chance to learn basic fundamentals from the high school coaching staff, along with varsity players, Haley Toohill, Megan Tool, Haley Ginger, Payton Bieber, Jessica Scott, and Shalyn Houston. The camp is a great way for the young kids in our community to get to work with our players. They look up to the older girls and want to become just like them. It's a great feeling to see how excited they get about Lady Maroons Basketball. Our players work with each camper throughout the week, and form a bond with them that creates a championship culture. The future of our basketball program is in great hands, because we have wonderful kids that have the heart, desire, and passion to become their absolute best.

Junior Varsity Coach: Justin Deters

Coach Deters finished his third year with the Lady Maroons. His primary role has been player substitutions at the varsity level, while also serving as the JV head coach. He served as the 8th grade boys' basketball coach in 2009-2010 for CJHS. He also spent one year as the Fresh/Soph boys' coach at Dieterich High School, and several years coaching the boys' youth basketball program in his hometown of Teutopolis. Coach Deters has been hired as the Assistant Principal at Clinton Junior High School. He begins his first year during the 2013-14 school year. We are extremely happy he has chosen to return to our staff. He has done an outstanding job teaching our Fresh/Soph kids fundamental basketball. We are pleased to have his knowledge and passion with the Lady Maroons.

Freshman Coach: Brian Ennis

Assistant coach Brian Ennis just completed his first season with the Lady Maroons and helped lead them to a school record of 25 wins and the class 2A Regional Championship. Brian has spent many years helping with the Clinton youth athletic programs. The past several years he's worked as a registered basketball official. Coach Ennis has three children, Aaron, Nathan, and Miranda. He attended Argenta-Oreana High School and played for legendary coach Tom Saunches. Brian and his wife Tammie, make their home in Clinton, IL. He will be in charge of leading the Lady Maroons Freshmen team, while helping to teach our kids the fundamentals of basketball.
